Anne's Hair Cut & Gymnastics

Anne had her first "real" haircut and she did great! My mom has trimmed her mullet a few times over the last year, but the front half is finally growing out so it was time for an all over trim. She usually does not like when we cut her hair so I was not expecting it to go well. Will and I talked it up to her for several days before so she was excited. It helped that I brought a sucker for her. It was quite a hit! She also loved being able to sit up in the big chair and look at herself in the mirror.

Getting started...

With clips all in her hair.

Being so good.

All done!

Anne started gymnastics this morning. It was so cute. We had her 2nd birthday party at the gym and she loved it, so I signed her up for the spring session. She is in the class with her friend Lulah. There are supposed to be two other children in the class with them, but they did not show up. So Anne and Lulah had a private lesson!

Here she is doing a pull-up on the bars.

Hanging with Lulah

The teacher commented on how coordinated Anne and Lulah are for their age. You might be looking at two future olympians here! :-)

And I couldn't leave Bob out. Hard to believe he is almost 3 months old!

p.s. Sorry for the bad picture quality. These were all taken with my phone...

Family Dinner

Bob joined us at the dinner table last night in his bumbo chair. He was happy to be included in the action. His loud sister provides lot's of entertainment!

Anne thought it was funny that he was sitting on the table!

When we were done with dinner she wanted to love on Bob.

"Tisses" for baby Bob

Going in for a big hug...

Poor Bob!

Tickling his feet.

It melts my heart to see them love each other!

DIY Painted Rug

We moved Anne out of the nursery when Bob was born and into her big girl room. She is still in a crib, but the room also has a queen sized bed and it is decorated in a color palette she can grow into (Grey, Hot Pink, Purple and Lime). Luckily, it was a smooth transition and she loves her new room. The room is fairly large, so I needed a big area rug to fill the space. The 12x15 rugs I liked were all expensive, so when I came across this DIY project I thought I would give it a try. I took two 6x9 Ikea area rugs ($39 each) painted them, and then bound them together to make one large rug. I think it turned out great. Easy and cheap project!

Taping out my pattern... I decided to go with something graphic. I have seen other examples where they used a stencil for a more traditional look.

I only did one coat of paint.

I used an upholstery needle and thread to bind the two rugs together.

Finished project!
